Amanda Fenstermaker, Preservation Maryland Board member and Director of Dorchester County Tourism, was recently honored at an event in Cambridge, Maryland with a citation from Governor Larry Hogan for her community service and heritage preservation efforts.
Fenstermaker, a native of Dorchester County who has served on the Board of Preservation Maryland since 2015, received the citation as a result of the pivotal role she has played in several large-scale tourism projects in her county. In addition to leading the tourism agency for Dorchester County, Fenstermaker also heads up the Heart of the Chesapeake Heritage Area which covers the majority of Dorchester County and played a lead role in the development of the Harriet Tubman Byway and National Park.
Additionally, Fenstermaker has played a critical role in the development of several large scale tourism efforts, including the IRONMAN races, the Chesapeake Country Mural Trail and the Reflections on Pine event in the City of Cambridge.
The official citation reads:
Be it known: That on behalf of the citizens of this state, in recognition of your leadership and valuable service as the Director of Tourism for Dorchester County and the important contributions you have made on behalf of the success of the Heart of the Chesapeake Country Heritage Area and in appreciation of your commendable efforts to promote the state’s history, cultural traditions, and natural resources through partnerships that support and create place-based experiences for visitors and residents alike; and as our citizens join in expressing our great respect, admiration and sincere best wishes for continued success, we are pleased to confer upon you this Governor’s Citiation.
