Heritage Fund
Preservation Maryland is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Heritage Fund grants, supporting projects that protect and celebrate the historic places, stories, and communities that define Maryland. From grassroots organizations to local stewards working to preserve cultural landmarks and community heritage, this year’s awardees reflect the creativity, dedication, and statewide impact of preservation in action. Through the Heritage Fund, Preservation Maryland continues to invest in projects that strengthen communities, expand access to history, and ensure Maryland’s diverse historic resources endure for future generations. A total of $153,000 was awarded to 18 projects across Maryland.
FY27 cycle will open early January 2027.
Established in 1996, the Heritage Fund is a cooperative effort of Preservation Maryland and the Maryland Historical Trust, which provides direct assistance for the protection of historical and cultural resources and promotes innovative demonstration projects that can be successfully replicated to meet Maryland’s historic preservation needs. Open once a year, the Heritage Fund is intended to serve the needs of tangible cultural resources in Maryland that are not likely to be met through existing Preservation Maryland and Maryland Historical Trust programs. For questions about the program, or to get added to the Heritage Fund announcement mailing list, please contact Christiana Limniatis, Program & Outreach Manager at climniatis@PresMD.org or 410-685-2886 x302.
