In partnership with the National Park Service Historic Preservation Training Center, Preservation Maryland’s newest effort, The Campaign for Historic Trades, is assisting with the recruitment of post-9/11 veterans to participate in a dynamic trades apprenticeship program.
The Traditional Trades Apprenticeship Program (TTAP) provides an immersive, six-month experience for veterans to develop historic preservation trade skills as they maintain and care for monuments, memorials, and structures in our national parks.
Funding for the National Capital Region cohort of veterans was generously provided by Tauck tours through a grant to Preservation Maryland’s The Campaign for Historic Trades.
The National Park Service is currently recruiting candidates for apprenticeships that will commence in April 2019.
Program participants can expect to:
- Make a meaningful impact on our national parks and historic communities that will last for generations.
- Develop highly-marketable job skills for the construction trades industry.
- Receive a National Center for Construction Education and Research graduation certificate.
- Work with a team of individuals who share a similar passion for history and craftsmanship.
- Have a fun, paid experience.
Applicants must be 18-35 years of age, a United States citizen or legal resident, and be in possession of a certificate of release or discharge from active duty with a discharge status of honorable or general under honorable conditions.
