After an extensive search and recruitment effort, Preservation Maryland is pleased to announce the hire of Jermaine Peterson as the organization’s first Workforce Development Manager of the recently launched Campaign for Historic Trades.
Jermaine Peterson, an experienced workforce development professional, previously served as a workforce development program manager with Moveable Feast, a nonprofit organization based in Baltimore which provides food and services to individuals suffering from HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, and those afflicted with terminal illness. During his time at Moveable Feast, Peterson was also selected to participate in the prestigious Weinberg Foundation Academy Fellowship for workforce development. Prior to his work with Moveable Feast, Peterson spent over 19 years in the hospitality management field in Baltimore and the surrounding areas.
Peterson was born and raised in the City of Baltimore and graduated from Baltimore City College High School. He currently resides in the City of Baltimore and is married with two children.
Peterson joins the organization during a period of dramatic growth with the recent launch of the Campaign for Historic Trades. Launched in late 2018, the Campaign for Historic Trades is a partnership with the National Park Service’s National Historic Preservation Training Center. The central focus of the new program is supporting the Center’s work to train skilled preservation tradespeople through its Traditional Trades Apprenticeship Program (TTAP).
As the first full-time employee of the Campaign, Peterson will lead recruitment and placement of apprentices across the nation and will support efforts to expand capacity and funding for the partnership.
Our Campaign for Historic Trades
Across the nation, thousands of construction jobs go unfilled – a quiet crisis that grows each day. In order to address this challenge, the National Park Service and Preservation Maryland are partnering on The Campaign for Historic Trades to increase opportunities for all Americans to enter the trades and help restore the nation’s vast and irreplaceable heritage.
