On March 13, 2026, Preservation Maryland invites the public to learn more about the future of the historic Ellicott City Jail.

The Community Engagement Meeting for the redevelopment of the historic Ellicott City Jail will take place at 7:00 PM in the Oella Room of the Roger Carter Community Center (3000 Milltowne Dr, Ellicott City, MD 21043).

Preservation Maryland, alongside the project’s architectural partner, Waldon Studio Architects, a Michael Graves Company, will present the proposed vision for the building and surrounding site. The team will outline how the project seeks to preserve the historic character of the structure while bringing it back into active use in a way that supports the broader community.

The presentation will include an overview of the building’s history, the goals guiding its redevelopment, and the approach to adaptive reuse. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions following the presentation.

While attendance is free and open to all, space in the Oella Room is limited to 100 participants. We strongly encourage those interested in attending to register in advance to help us plan accordingly, though registration is not required.
