Maryland’s waterways are at the heart of our history — from the working harbors of the Chesapeake Bay to the small boatyards that have supported generations. Preservation Maryland is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2025 Maryland Maritime Heritage Grant Program, a competitive funding opportunity to help preserve and share the state’s maritime legacy.
About the Program
In partnership with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and funded through the Waterway Improvement Fund, the program will award $200,000 in grants this year, with individual awards ranging from $10,000 to $50,000. Funding is available for both capital and non-capital projects that preserve or interpret the rich maritime heritage of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and government entities. Projects might include vessel preservation, maritime museum enhancements, educational programming, or documentation of traditional boatbuilding techniques.
Preservation Maryland will host several virtual sessions to get more information about this new grant program. Click on the linked text to register.
