As a part of Preservation Maryland’s broader legislative advocacy strategy, the statewide organization has signed an agreement to lease an office for the upcoming session of the Maryland General Assembly in the state capital, Annapolis.
The office space will be located in the headquarters building of the American Institute of Architects Maryland at 86 Maryland Avenue in downtown Annapolis. AIA Maryland is a trusted, long-term partner of Preservation Maryland and their headquarters will be an ideal location for the preservation community to organize its legislative outreach.
The new office, while small, spartan and unfurnished, will provide the organization with its first physical foothold in Annapolis. The need for the new space became increasingly apparent as the organization substantially increased its legislative advocacy over the past several years. The Preservation Maryland Legislative Affairs Office will provide the perfect spot for staff to host meetings, prepare testimony and maximize the use of their time in Annapolis.
AIA Maryland provided the space at a generous discount to Preservation Maryland. The remaining costs were covered by donations to the organization’s critical Advocacy Fund.
