Preservation Maryland is pleased to announce that Colleen Poulton has joined the organization as Redevelopment Project Lead, where she will dedicate her expertise to advancing the Historic Property Redevelopment Program, collaborating with partners and managing revitalization projects.

Colleen brings a wealth of experience at the intersection of public history, nonprofit service, and project management. Before joining Preservation Maryland, she served at the American Battlefield Trust, where her responsibilities ranged from communications and marketing to managing complex, multi-stakeholder public history initiatives. She has also supported event logistics and venue operations at the Partnership for Public Service and previously engaged with thousands of visitors as a U.S. Capitol Visitor Guide.

Colleen holds a master’s degree in public history from American University and a bachelor’s degree in history from Stony Brook University, where she also minored in political science and international studies. Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, Colleen now calls the Chesapeake Bay home with her Maryland-native husband.

“Colleen brings both professional expertise and a deep passion for historic places to Preservation Maryland,” said Laura Houston, Director of Revitalization Initiatives. “Her management experience and knowledge of best practices will strengthen our redevelopment efforts, expand the reach of our Historic Property Redevelopment Program, and be an asset to our existing projects across the state.”
