Does living in a historic house located in one of Maryland’s State Parks sound like a dream come true? Eightrupp Farm in Harford County is now available through Maryland’s Resident Curatorship Program.
MORE ABOUT EIGHTRUPP/LYLE FARM
Eightrupp Farm is a particularly intact agricultural complex dating to the 18th and 19th centuries. The property includes a stone house with attached greenhouse, a spring house, barns, and a pond. Its agricultural character is paramount to understanding the property’s history and its connection to the landscape. For this reason, the Department is seeking a partner who is interested in preserving not just the farmhouse, but the outbuildings and agricultural landscape in accordance with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards and sharing the property with the public.
In addition to the property immediately surrounding the house and outbuildings, the Maryland Park Service has up to 56 acres of land available for long-term agricultural lease in the vicinity of the Eightrupp Farm complex. The Department will give preference to applicants who intend to use the property for small-scale, environmentally friendly farming operations. Non-profit, private and commercial entities are welcome to apply but lease terms may vary depending on the nature of the proposal. Applicants should include public programming or access as a part of their proposal.
