After nearly nine years with the organization, Director of Government Relations Elly Cowan is moving on from her position at Preservation Maryland to begin a new role with Compass Advocacy, an Annapolis-based lobbying firm. Elly has played a direct – and significant – role in shaping key public policy and helped to collectively increase funding for preservation by hundreds millions of dollars.
“In addition to her external efforts, Elly has also shaped the way we as an organization conduct ourselves in Annapolis where her tenacity, spirit, and congenial approach have made countless friends for the organization and has left us far stronger as a result,” said President & CEO Nicholas Redding.
During her time at Preservation Maryland, Elly has held many positions within the organization, first serving as an administrative assistant and quickly moving up the ranks to special projects, advocacy, and most currently leading government relations efforts and our Smart Growth program.
