Across the country, Veterans Day is a day to acknowledge, thank, and remember, the women and men who have served to protect the United State. It is celebrated every 11th of November, and this year we’re honored to provide you here with four events around Maryland in honor of our veterans:
Four Veterans Day Events in Maryland
In honor of those who have served our country, the American Legion Post 86 in Rockville will host their annual Veterans Day event with wreath-laying ceremony and salute. Starting at 11am, Bridget Newton, Mayor and Command Sergeant Major Ross Bagwell will deliver an address at the Post.
On Veteran’s Day at 10am, the 41st annual Leonardtown Veterans Day Parade will take place at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds. This parade is one of the largest parades in the state – see military units, drill teams, marching bands, horses, classic cars, and pageant winners.
In honor of Veterans Day, all National Park Service sites that typically charge a fee will offer free admission to everyone. Maryland State Parks wil follow suit and offer free admission to veterans – both from Maryland and out-of-state.
A unique way to remember our veterans is the Towson University Annual Veterans’ Film Series that screens classic military films on campus at the Van Bokkelen Auditorium, Room 204 at 7pm on November 11 and November 18.
