WEBINAR SUMMARY
This is a free webinar led by experts from Encore Sustainable Design, a firm that has offices on the Eastern Shore and near Annapolis. The webinar will provide attendees with information on the Maryland Heritage Structure Residential Rehabilitation Program, a 20% tax credit available to qualified historic homeowners engaging in qualified rehab projects. The webinar will also offer information on the state’s small commercial historic tax credit – a 20% tax credit available for Main Street-type rehab projects that do not exceed $500,000 in total qualified rehab expenses. Information will also be provided on the federal historic tax credit program.
MEET THE SPEAKERS
Nakita Reed and Ward Bucher of Encore Sustainable Design.
Nakita Reed, AIA, APT, LEED AP BD+C, GGP has spent her career working to combine historic preservation with sustainable design. She has experience in pursuing tax credits and LEED certification on the same project. Nakita received her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia and went on to pursue architecture, preservation, and sustainable design at the University of Pennsylvania. While at UPENN she earned a Master’s of Architecture degree, a Master’s of Science in Historic Preservation degree, and a Certificate of Ecological Architecture.
W. Ward Bucher, III, AIA has built a career designing and preserving spaces people love. He has extensive experience in adaptive use of existing buildings throughout the United States and has won numerous awards in his architectural practice. Ward received his Bachelor of Building Science and his Bachelor of Architecture degrees from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute. He wrote The Dictionary of Building Preservation and has over 40 years of experience as a registered architect.
