The Historical Society of Harford County, in a joint effort with the City of Aberdeen, the Aberdeen Room Museum and Archives, and other organizations, was successful in relocating Aberdeen’s B&O Railroad Station to its new permanent home, fifty feet from its original spot.
After moving, the station was stabilized on a new foundation with materials donated by Maryland Portable Concrete, York Building Material, and Vulcan Building Products. The Harford County Historical Society hopes to begin phase two of the project when funds allow. Additionally, it is noted in the Historical Society’s 2012 Annual Report that the Maryland Historical Trust has granted a total of $100,000 in an effort to preserve the station. It seems likely the station will eventually fall into the hands of the Aberdeen Room Museum and Archives.
