Preservation Maryland is working with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and project partners to develop a Master Plan for Freedman’s State Park, guiding the long-term stewardship of more than 1,000 acres of historic landscapes, sites, and stories connected to the Howard family.
Building on a Cultural Landscape Report completed in 2025, the planning process will explore land conservation, passive recreation, and meaningful historic interpretation.
Join us for the first public meeting to learn about the project, explore the planning timeline, and find out how you can help shape the park’s future.
